Job Title: Major League Performance Nutritionist and Food Service Manager

 

Reports To: Director, Strength & Conditioning and Performance Nutrition

 

Job Purpose:   We are seeking a Performance Nutritionist and Food Service Manager that is highly organized, efficient, and punctual to manage the food service and catering needs of our players and staff. This position is responsible for implementing the philosophies and principles of the Chicago Cubs Performance Nutrition Department and organizing and coordinating meals for the team daily, managing food preparation and presentation needs according to leadership, inventory and maintenance, and communicating with third party vendors. To be successful in this position, the ideal candidate must be professional, personable, provide excellent customer service, and demonstrate cost management skills. The ideal candidate would also have relevant work history in the food service or hospitality industries and as a Registered Dietitian.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Food Service:

 

  •  Participate on all zoom/calls regarding performance (nutrition, S&C, medical, fundamentals)
  • Attend Spring Training and travel with ML team in season
  • Set meals/menu according to the philosophies of the Performance Nutrition Department
  • Procure best in class meals that satisfy the needs (quality, quantity, timing) of our players and staff
  • Prepare supplements pre/post workouts and games
  • Purchase or arrange purchase of ingredients and make smoothies daily
  • Assist chefs with food prep and food quality as appropriate
  •  Ensure cleanliness of eating areas
  • Accept product, break down packaging
  • Oversee maintenance schedule of equipment and appliances
  • Inventory snack and smoothie ingredients

 

Performance Nutrition:

 

  • Work alongside Leadership and Head of Minor League Nutrition to build out Performance Nutrition vision and principles that align organizationally
  • Develop and deliver education sessions 1 on 1 and in small groups to players as appropriate
  • Develop and deliver educations sessions with staff as it relates to performance, nutrition, fatigue, and recovery
  • Identify opportunities to complement development and performance initiatives with sound nutrition choices

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in hospitality or culinary arts is preferred
  • Prior experience as a catering coordinator, or other relevant position in the hospitality     or food service experience industry
  • RD required
  • Finance or business management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and effective problem-solving skills
  • Organized and punctual
  • Strong  ability of interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and collaborate with players coaches, staff, third party vendors.
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
