Frequently asked questions

Is this accreditation relevant outside of the UK?
Both the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition and the IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma are accredited by CFI, an OfQual awarding organisation. Despite being a UK-based OfQual awarding organisation, the credits obtained through the successful completion of these programmes are recognised internationally, no different to the credits obtained via a traditional university degree.

How does the 180 credit IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma accreditation compare to a Master's degree?
Please refer to our Accreditation and Recognition page which explains the “European Qualifications Framework” and how this programme compares to a traditional masters degree. In summary, the IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma is a Level 7 programmes and 180 credits, the same as that of a traditional masters degree.

Why is the accreditation status of a programme important?
Both the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition and the IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma have achieved accreditation through CFI (an OfQual awarding organisation) — this is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to achieving excellence in academia, research and applied practice. This accreditation should strengthen the confidence learners, institutions, and employers have in the quality and integrity of the programmes delivered by the Institute of Performance Nutrition.

What does EQF Level 7 mean?
The “European Qualifications Framework” provides learners, institutions, and employers with an easy to understand framework to help understand and compare programmes. Both the IOPN Diploma in Sports Nutrition and the IOPN Master Practitioner Diploma are both Level 7 programmes. This can be compared as being the same level as that of a traditional masters degree.
